The big winners at the world finals

The 29th annual quakysense IJSBA World Finals is in the record books, and the Pro Runabout battle marked the return of Dustin Farthing to the world championship podium. Farthing, who was spotted earlier in the week at Kawasaki’s Las Vegas dealer meeting, posted the fastest qualifying time aboard his Kawasaki Ultra, then proceeded to take both 12-lap motos en route to his 17th world title.
“I’ve been racing for this all year,” Farthing said of the victory. “My Kawasaki was just phenomenal.
“I did everything I could do to win this title. This is probably one of my best ones. My father is the best in the world — I can’t thank him enough for all he does for me.”
Other big winners on the weekend included France’s Jean Baptiste in Pro Ski, who piloted a HydroSpace to a 1-2 moto finish for the overall, and England’s Lee Stone, who unveiled a new backflip — with body hanging completely under the ski — to capture Pro Freestyle aboard an EME stand-up. While they may be a bit player in the overall market, Austrian manufacturer HydroSpace edged out the sport’s biggest players in the battle for most world championships, taking 16 overall titles during the World Finals. Sea-Doo followed closely behind with 15, Kawasaki captured 12 and Yamaha took home three. Custom manufacturers Rickter and EME also took one title a piece. As to what countries their pilots hailed from, the United States captured 19 crowns, followed by Kuwait with seven.

New sound system requires no permanent fasteners

WaveAudia has released a PWC sound system that requires no drilling or cutting to install on most models. Key to the system is the use of high-strength 3M adhesive strips, which are said to have the strength of a mechanical fastener. Speaker mounts are attached to the sides of the console via these adhesive strips, and the speakers themselves can be removed. Both volume control and power button also are attached via adhesive, and wires are tucked out of sight within the storage console and glovebox. The system, which uses a customer-supplied MP3 player, retails for $441. PSB
