Metric motorcycle exports to North America tumble in May

Metric manufacturers significantly decreased their motorcycle exports to the United States and Canada in May compared to the previous-year month.

Motorcycle exports to the United States from members of the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) fell 58 percent in May to 9,116.

In Canada, motorcycle exports were decreased 81.5 percent to 168.

Overall, JAMA members, including Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki, decreased their total production by more than 40 percent in May compared to May 2008.
