Nationwide efforts to keep the trails open

Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S.
In more than three years, this Polaris program has given more than $746,000 in funds to local, state
and national ATV clubs. To date, Polaris has assisted 83 organizations in 42 states across the United States.
The grants ranged from $7,000 to the maximum $10,000 and will be applied toward trail development, improvements, expansion, education and the construction of an ATV safety course.
The sixth round
of T.R.A.I.L.S. grant
recipients are:
• Long Island Recreational Trails Conservatory, New York
• Balsam Trail Blazers ATV Club, Minnesota
• Birdseye Mountain ATV Club, Vermont
• Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Association
• USDA Forest Service- Ironton Ranger District, Ohio

For more information on the “T.R.A.I.L.S.” grant program and an application form, visit www.polarisindustries.com and click on “Riders,” then select “Right to Ride.”
Grant applications are reviewed two times per year — in March and September, with corresponding submission deadlines of March 1 and Sept. 1. Organizations must have 501c3, 501c7 or non-profit organization status. Project funding, or matching funding, from other sources is an important criteria to be considered for a T.R.A.I.L.S. grant.

Yamaha G.R.A.N.T.
Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., contributed more than $175,000 in cash and equipment during the first quarter of 2009 to ATV riding clubs, national forests, law enforcement support groups and other OHV-related organizations across the country. This initial effort for 2009 is a continuation of Yamaha’s OHV Access Initiative, which has poured more than $875,000 into the OHV community since the beginning of last year supporting its mission of promoting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas.
In this first quarter funding cycle, Yamaha GRANTs (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation’s Trails) were awarded to 15 applicants with compelling projects designed to improve OHV experience locally, regionally and nationally.
