Changes at Assurant will impact 20 group clubs

The industry’s leading 20-group provider has a new owner.

Gart Sutton & Associates said it has purchased the Assurant Solutions’ 20 Clubs division, which includes more than 270 dealerships.

The new ownership is a part of a number of changes for Assurant, which closed its Denver office that included the 20-group division and will focus primarily on its core business of underwriting vehicle service contracts and related finance and insurance products.

“In line with our increased focus on the Vehicle Service Contract space, we have decided to exit the 20-club business,” Jimmy Atkinson, Assurant’s senior vice president of Vehicle Service Contracts, said in a press release. “Effective June 1, we will transfer the Assurant 20 Club business to the GSA Best Operators Club business.”

Sutton, a longtime industry consultant and trainer, began working with Assurant earlier this year, moderating some of the company’s 20 clubs.

“Over the past year, we have developed a solid working relationship with GSA, one of the premier 20-club and training resources in the powersports industry,” Atkinson said.
