Polaris enters agreement with Robby Gordon

Famed NASCAR and three-time Baja 1000 Trophy Truck winner Robby Gordon will work with Polaris Industries regarding marketing and product development, according to a press release from Polaris.
The three-year agreement includes Gordon providing insight on future products and promoting Polaris’ RZR.
Gordon stated in the release, “They are the leading American manufacturer in consumer off-road vehicles. The Ranger RZR and the Ranger have set the standard in side-by-side vehicles. At Robby Gordon Off-road, we have built the fastest, most elite off-road vehicles in the world. We are excited to share this technology and knowledge with consumers through our partnership with Polaris.”
Matt Homan, vice president and general manager for Polaris’ Off-Road Division, added in the release, “Coupling Gordon’s expertise in building and racing off-road vehicles with the hottest-selling side-by-sides will ensure the Ranger RZR product line continues to be an undisputed leader both on the racing scene and in the marketplace.”

Yamaha OHV GRANTs top $875,000 for first quarter

ATV riding clubs, national forests, law enforcement support groups and other off-highway vehicle (OHV)-related organizations across the country will be receiving more than $175,000 in cash and equipment in this first quarter thanks to Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.
This initial effort for 2009 is a continuation of Yamaha’s OHV Access Initiative, which has poured more than $875,000 into the OHV community since the beginning of last year supporting its mission of promoting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas, according to a Yamaha press release.
In this funding cycle, Yamaha GRANTs (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation’s Trails) were awarded to 15 applicants with projects designed to improve OHV experience locally, regionally and nationally.
“The Yamaha OHV Access Initiative has become a vital resource for OHV communities that are performing the on-the-ground work needed to create and maintain safe and responsible riding areas,” Yamaha General Manager of ATV and UTV operations Mike Martinez said in the release. “Yamaha has put more than $875,000 back into the OHV community through the OHV Access Initiative over the past 15 months. Particularly in this economic climate, these grassroots organizations need help, and Yamaha is proud to continue our support of the industry and enthusiasts through these GRANTS.”

Groups sign arrangement with Ohio’s Wayne National Forest

The Wayne National Forest, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the All-Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVA) have joined forces to help ensure that off-highway vehicle (OHV) riders have a safe and enjoyable experience when they ride the Wayne’s 121-mile motorized trail system.
Forest Supervisor Jo Reyer, AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman and AMA Board Chairman Stan Simpson gathered at the Wayne National Forest headquarters on April 17, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) pledging to work together to promote the Wayne’s new strategy for safe and legal motorized trail use, which will benefit both trail riders and the national forest. ?
“This is a great opportunity for us at the Wayne National Forest to tap into the expertise of the AMA and ATVA, not only to help provide safe and enjoyable trail riding, but also educate riders about protecting natural resources and caring for the land,” Reyer said.
Dingman notes the AMA and the ATVA have a long history of working with officials of the Wayne National Forest, which encompasses 241,000 acres in 12 counties of southeastern Ohio.
“For OHV riders to enjoy our public lands and designated trails, they must also obey trail rules and practice good riding ethics,”?Dingman said. “Educating riders to act responsibly and be good stewards is very important to help ensure riding opportunities in the future, and that’s where we can help.”
