Wiseco recalls some off-road engine parts

In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Wiseco Performance Products voluntarily recalled its off-road dirt bike connecting rods and crankshaft assemblies, according to the CPSC.

More than 400 of these products were recalled because engine stress could cause the connecting rods to crack and the engine to lock up, posing a crash hazard. There have been no injuries reported.

Wiseco’s identification number can be found on the neck of the connecting rods between the two circular ends. The part number and date code can be found on the product’s packaging.

The parts recalled are the YZ450F Crank Assembly, YZ250F Crank Assembly, WR250F Crank Assembly, KX250F/RMZ250 Crank Assembly, WR450F Crank Assembly, YZ/WR250F Connecting Rod and YZ/WR450F Connecting Rod.

The parts were sold at off-road dirt bike distributors nationwide and directly to consumers at www.wiseco.com from March 2007-December 2008 for about $130 for the connecting rods and $240-$300 for the crankshaft assemblies.
