Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki announce recalls

Harley-Davidson and Kawasaki have voluntarily recalled several model motorcycles due to potential hazards.

Kawasaki is recalling ZG1400A8F/A8FL and ZG1400B8F/B8FL models. Trapped road debris can interfere with free movement of the rear brake, which can lead to overheating damage and possible brake failure. The voluntary recall began Dec. 8, and affects roughly 4,600 motorcycles. Owners of the recalled vehicles can contact Kawasaki at 949/770-0400, or visit www.safercar.gov for more information.

In related news, Harley-Davidson is recalling 349 2009 FXD8, FXDC, FXDF and FXDL motorcycles, which have a fuel tank vent tube assembly produced with a defective ultrasonic weld on the anti-slosh valve. If the valve separates and the bike is tipped over, fuel might leak out, creating a potential fire hazard. For more information contact Harley-Davidson at (414) 343-4056, or visit www.safercar.gov.
