BRP wins lawsuit against U.K. importer

BRP has won a lawsuit against a company that imported Sea-Doo PWC into the United Kingdom without the manufacturer’s consent, according to a press release.

SQM Jetpower will have to pay “a significant amount in damages and costs” to BRP for importing the PWC plus provide details on where it purchased the new units, according to the press release.

BRP also said in the release it has in recent months terminated its relationship with two North American dealers and penalized 17 others from the region for similar offenses.

“We strongly believe that the way we operate through local distributors or dealers ensures the well being of our network, protects consumers and maintains our brands,” Martin Langelier, BRP’s vice president and general counsel, said in the press release.

“BRP will pursue its efforts to fight against the sale of its products through illegal and illegitimate trade channels.”
