Yellowstone reverts to temporary plan
A court order allows Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks to have limited, managed snowmobile and snowcoach access in the parks, according to the national parks’ press release.
The National Park Service will publish a rule in the Federal Register to reinstate the 2004 rule, which allows up to 720 commercially guided, Best Available Technology snowmobiles and up to 78 snowcoaches per day in Yellowstone. This is the same rule that has been in effect for the past four winters.
The rule is in accordance with the Wyoming court’s order. Park spokesman Al Nash says administrators decided to revert to the old rule, so they could immediately start developing a long-term solution.
The parks are expected to be open on their regular date, Dec. 15
Company introduces new snow bike
AD Boivin released a snow bike called the Explorer. Company President Denis Boivin says the bike fills the gap of an intermediate vehicle between the junior series and the big bore 800cc, according to an AD Boivin press release.
This new system is fully adjustable to fit many brands of motocross, enduro and supermoto motorcycles.
The Explorer keeps the original parts of the motorcycle. By leaving the swing arm, the brake, the brake rotor and the shock absorber in place, it’s easier to install and adds an average of only 40 pounds to the original weight of the bike. psb
