Honda unveils 2009 motorcycle models

American Honda’s Powersports Division has announced the release of its 2009 on-road motorcycles, including the unveiling of the DN-01 and its fully automatic transmission. This announcement follows the earlier releases of Honda’s 2009 off-road motorcycles, ATVs, MUV and Ruckus and Metropolitan scooters.

“A number of these models offer impressive new technology, so we’re especially excited to introduce this portion of our product line,” said Bill Savino, the company’s motorcycle press manager.

The DN-01 combines sporty performance with the automatic transmission, a low seat height and exceptional style. Honda’s designers sought to combine elements of a sport bike, relaxed cruiser comfort and the operating ease of an automatic transmission. Features include programmed digital fuel injection; a four-valve, 680cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine; anti-lock, combined braking system; modern digital instrumentation; and an HFT transmission, a highly advanced hydromechanical automatic transmission that the company says sets the DN-01 apart from all other motorcycles. Available colors include Candy Dark Red and Black. MSRP is $14,599. For more information on Honda’s 2009 on-road motorcycles, read an upcoming edition of Powersports Business.
