Dealer survey: Polaris’ ATV sales down, but UTV and sled sales up

A national dealer survey focusing on the fourth quarter found Polaris Industries’ ATV sales were down 6-8 percent compared to a year ago while the company’s UTV sales increased 15-20 percent.

The survey of 35 dealers was conducted by Wachovia Capital Markets and included what the company believed were seven of Polaris’ top 20 dealers in terms of ATV unit sales. Six of the dealers surveyed were Polaris-only dealers while the rest were multi-line dealers.

Wachovia Capital Markets also reported it expects ATV industry sales to be down in the low double digits percentage-wise for the fourth quarter.

The dealer survey also found Victory sales were up in the low single digits and snowmobile sales have increased 10-15 percent compared to a year ago.
