Arctic Cat to sell South Dakota facility, cut 89 jobs

Arctic Cat will sell its Madison, S.D., facility by February, resulting in the loss of all 89 jobs. However, effected employees will have the option to work in Arctic Cat’s other plants as well as receive employment assistance, the company stated in its press release.

The Madison, S.D., operations will move to the company’s main manufacturing facility in Thief River Falls, Minn. Arctic Cat intends to hire 50-60 employees in its main facility to compensate for the extra work.

Arctic Cat CEO Christopher Twomey says the move will improve operational efficiency by saving about $1 million a year.

“We believe this decision makes good business sense and is in keeping with our strong commitment to enhance operational efficiency,” Twomey said in the release.
