BRP Expands Finland Factory
BRP will move its Finnish operations into a new state-of-the art snowmobile manufacturing facility by December 2008.
Construction of the new 200,000-square-feet facility is slated for this fall. The building will regroup BRP Finland’s distribution center, assembly and fabrication lines, logistic center and R&D functions.
“This investment confirms our commitment to the Scandinavian market and to the Lynx snowmobile brand,” stated Jose Boisjoli, BRP’s president and chief executive officer.
“Our current facility no longer responds to our production needs.”
New Ad Campaign Created By Quebec Tourism Group
The Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is working in conjunction with the International Snowmobile Manufacturer’s Association and the Quebec tourism department to develop a promotional snowmobile advertising campaign.
The campaign, translated as “Let’s go snowmobiling,”?is meant to portray a positive image of the sport. It includes television ads and billboards. It’s also serving as a test market for the GoSnowmobiling! commercials.
This year, a new element will be added to the campaign:?an emphasis on directing potential customers to dealerships. This campaign is a two-year program, and more information is available at www.avosmotoneiges.org.
Minnesota Event Haydays To Stay Put, For Now
The Sno Barons snowmobile club, which organizes Haydays Grass Drags and Swap Meet near Lino Lake, Minn., has signed a three-year lease to remain on the Waldoch property.
The club purchased land north of the present site but will put in some infrastructure before it moves the event. This gives the club a four-year window — the 2007 event was already under lease — to get the new site in operational order, said the Sno Baron’s John Seviola.
The new site is larger and will feature a small campground and permanent buildings.
Montanta Issues a License To Thrill
The state of Montana has issued a sponsored license plate that will serve as a fund-raiser for a public lands legal defense fund. The plate, which show multiple forms of recreation including fishing, dirt biking, hunting, skiing and snowmobiling, supports Citizens for Balanced Use.
The plates cost $40, $25 of which goes to pay legal fees to keep lands open. Annual renewal is $25. psb
