BRP invests nearly $13 million in new design and innovation center

BRP plans to invest CAN$15 million ($12.9 million) to build a state-of-the-art design and innovation center next to its head office in Valcourt, Quebec.

In 2006, BRP invested CAN$3.6 million ($3.1 million) to expand its R&D center in Valcourt and CAN$15.6 million ($13.5 million) in a partnership with Universite de Sherbrooke to create an advanced technologies center. This new investment will bring the Sherbrooke and Valcourt design and advanced concept teams under one roof.

The first phase of the project will begin this spring with the demolition of buildings located between BRP’s head office and the Manoir Bombardier in Valcourt. With 54,000 square feet of space, the new building will be more user-friendly and feature several workshops and integrated demonstration rooms. The new design and innovation center also will be better adapted to the needs of employees and visitors. More than 50 employees will move to the new facility in 2008.

The project also involves relocating the competition team to an existing building, moving the procurement department to the research center and adding parking spaces.
