Ducati reports revenue drop for 2006

Ducati Motor Holding SpA released its preliminary 2006 fourth quarter and full year financials yesterday.

In the fourth quarter sales revenues were Euro 80.1 million ($105.2 million), a decrease of 9.3 percent versus the previous year, due mainly to reduced bike sales.

Revenues were down 1.2 percent for 2006 to Euro 304.8 million ($400.2 million) compared to 2005 with a decrease in the number of bikes sold. An improved bike mix and an increase in accessories and apparel sales partially offset revenues.

The preliminary full year 2006 results show a return to a positive operating result and a substantial improvement of the net financial position. The results are due to a successful relaunch strategy implemented at the end of 2005, which focused on improving gross margin and reducing dealer stock, fixed costs and working capital.

Ducati sold 32,312 bikes in 2006 yielding revenues of Euro 239.7 million ($314.8 million), while parts, accessories and apparel sales reached Euro 60.1 million ($78.9 million), up 3.4 percent on 2005.
