Arctic Cat recalls one of its youth ATVs
Arctic Cat and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the Thief River Falls, Minn., manufacturer is issuing a voluntary recall of one of its youth ATVs.
The company recalled the Arctic Cat 90cc DVX and Utility model ATVs because the handlebar base mounting bolts tie-rod ends and tie-rod adjustment locking nuts might not have been tightened correctly.
The company said operating the ATV could cause components to loosen, resulting in loss of steering control, and possibly loss of vehicle control, resulting in injury or death.
Arctic Cat has not received any reports of loose steering components resulting in injury to a rider.
Bill seeks to increase access for Wisconsin ATV riders
The Wisconsin Ag Connection reported that state Rep. Jeff Mursau has introduced legislation to increase ATV access to recreational trails across the state.
“Under current law ATVs are prohibited from riding along the side of roads except in a few limited circumstances,” Mursau said. “Therefore, even if you live down the street from a trailhead, you must still load your machine onto a trailer, haul it to the trail and then [unload] it.”
Mursau’s legislation grants local units of government the authority to allow ATV riders to make use of the roadway if they are traveling from their home or a place of lodging to an ATV trail.
United Motors launches new five-speed sports ATV
United Motors announced the addition of a new sport ATV?that offers a 5-speed transmission with manual clutch plus reverse, and an electric starting system.
The MoonTrax-450R offers safety through double A-Arm front suspension with adjustable gas reservoir shocks, adjustable rear shock, front and rear disc brakes and an LED taillight. Plus, the Moontrax has a 51hp, four-valve engine. That, combined with its dry weight of 378 pounds, gives it, according to United Motors, the leading power-to-weight ratio in its class.
Other standard features on the 2007 UM Moontrax 450R include a multi-function LCD display, lightweight front and rear master cylinders, combined with twin front discs with twin-piston calipers and single rear disc for stopping power with progressive control and feel, and a lightweight, high-tensile steel frame designed for low vibration, optimum rigidity and maximum durability.
All(season) Terrain Vehicle riders wanted
New Hampshire’s Union Leader has reported that a network of ATV trails normally closed during the winter has reopened in hopes of luring tourists to an area reeling from a lack of snowfall.
The Perry Stream Land and Timber Co. has opened miles of trails for winter ATV riders, located north of Pittsburg Village in the northern tip of the state. The timber company’s decision to open the trails, Gamache said, was in response to Pittsburg business owners hurting from the lack of snow that made the vital holiday vacation week a washout.
Tank Sports Signs Agreement to Acquire Redcat Motors
Tank Sports, a California-based manufacturer of motorcycle and powersports equipment, signed an agreement with Hexagon Financial, LLC to acquire LowPrice.com Inc.
LowPrice had operated Redcat Motors, a powersports equipment importer and distributor headquartered in Phoenix. Redcat’s business mainly focuses on off-road powersports equipment. Tank Sports develops, engineers and markets on-road motorcycles and scooters, ATVs, dirt bikes and go-karts through manufacturers in China. The acquisition will enable Tank to provide a combined dealer base of more than 500 dealers nationwide. psb
