Nov. 13, 2006 – Custom Chrome holds first

Custom Chrome held its first-ever CCI Vendor Council Summit in Morgan Hill, Calif., during the first week of October.
Custom Chrome President Holger Mohr said he understands that Custom Chrome’s future growth and continued success is directly linked to its vendors, and said the summit served as a way to address the company’s dedication to parts development, replenishment and distribution.
“For this reason, we created the CCI Vendor Council,” Mohr said. “With the council’s help and input, Custom Chrome will be the right business partner for V-twin-based product manufacturers and dealers. Custom Chrome is asking for their assistance in reaching this goal and the vendors responded with open arms and tons of ideas.”
Participating vendors included Terry Components, Mikuni American Corp., Barnett, Motion Pro, Belt Drives LTD, TP Engineering, Adjure Inc., Arlen Ness Inc., Daytona Twin Tec LLC, Goodridge (USA) Inc., Jim’s Machining, D&D Performance Enterprises and Primo. While invited, S&S and Corbin both did not send representation.
The vendors brought industry issues to light, contributed to product planning for 2007 and broke out into working groups each assigned with a topic to discuss and provide solutions to.
“We have completely revamped our energies and resources toward revitalizing our parts line,” Mohr said. “By reducing expensive diversions at events and sales meetings this past summer and fall, Custom Chrome has been able to make significant headway in its procurement.
“We knew if we invited dealers and vendors to Morgan Hill this fall without significant new product news, we would be wasting their time and ours. So instead we took that time and money and sunk it into developing new parts, vendor relationships and inventory on the whole.”
Mohr said additional vendors already have been asked to participate at a future Vendor Council meeting.
Custom Chrome is a unit of Global Motorsport Group, Inc., which also designs, manufactures, markets and distributes aftermarket motorcycle parts and accessories and does business as Santee, Custom Chrome Europe, Custom Chrome Far East and Motorcycle Stuff. psb
