Kawasaki planning a potent new watercraft?
While other manufacturers appear to be staying in the safe zone in terms of new product for 2007, Kawasaki apparently plans to step from the shadows and hog the spotlight with the announcement of a potent new watercraft.
It’s been the buzz of Internet discussion groups since July. Consensus seems to be that the new Jet Ski may in fact be a supercharged variation of the existing 15F motor, coupled within a boat that at the minimum will feature a radically redesigned top deck, and quite possibly an entirely new hull below. Spy photos of several machines have already been found on at least one popular Web site, showing vehicles that have more flowing and aggressive lines than what is currently available. Rumors and photos also indicate the company may have finally abandoned the starboard-side mount for its reverse lever, a welcome ergonomic change.
The power behind such a vehicle? Those same Internet gossips contend the craft may realistically be in the neighborhood of 240hp, making it the most powerful production craft currently on the market.
Kawasaki reportedly plans to unveil the vehicle sometime on or after Sept. 23. Log onto www.watercraftworld.com for the latest information on the new craft as soon as it is made available.
APBA National Champs, High Points Winners
The American PowerBoat Association recently wrapped up its national championship in Tennessee. The event marked the return of legendary racer Chris MacClugage to the national scene, and MacClugage wasted little time in making his mark, capturing the Pro-Am Ski Open class. Another noteworthy winner included Jay Edworthy in Pro-Am Runabout 1200 Open. psb
