NPA adds H-D dealer-to-dealer site – September 25, 2006

National Powersport Auctions (NPA) has partnered with Harley-Davidson to provide a dealer-to-dealer wholesale online site, www.HD-dealerexchange.com.
“Harley is focusing wholeheartedly on the used business because we know that used sales drive new sales,” said Justyn Amstutz, NPA’s executive vice president.
The new program, started in mid-August, is called Harley Davidson Dealer Exchange (HDDX) and allows franchised H-D dealers to sell preowned Harleys or metric motorcycles online.
“HDDX is a platform that allows a Harley Davidson franchise dealer to consign their vehicles through NPA without having to transport their vehicle physically to an auction,” Amstutz said.
Part of NPA’s agreement with Harley is preowned Harley bikes are only sold from one franchised Harley dealer to another. The Web site, available to Harley dealers anytime, includes photos of the motorcycles, condition reports and is monitored by NPA.
The selling dealer is responsible for the condition of the unit. Harley-Davidson has agreed to help NPA police the process, Amstutz said. “It would be pretty ugly for a H-D franchise dealer to misrepresent a unit sold on our site,” he said. HDDX also will allow Harley dealers to sell metric bikes online. Those bikes will be available to all NPA dealers.
There is a $25 cost for listing a motorcycle on NPA’s Web site. There are also separate buyer and seller fees. psb
