Yamaha Makes Phazer Production Changes
Yamaha Motor Corp. announced final production changes for its new Phazer as it comes off the production line in Japan.
Final changes include a stronger seat frame for durability, an oil cooler to regulate engine temperatures and increase performance, increased frame rigidity, a new secondary clutch and an added tool box on the rear tunnel. Final production weights on the machines are: Phazer, 474 pounds; Phazer GT and FX, 487 pounds; Phazer Mountain Lite, 514 pounds; Venture Lite, 591 pounds. These are higher weights than previously anticipated.
“During testing of these models we changed parts to meet Yamaha’s strict durability standards,” said Yamaha Snowmobile Product Manager Adam Sylvester. “As a result, we had to slightly increase the weights of these machines. But, small weight gains in the right places result in great durability, strong performance and excellent handling.”
Polaris Tightens Up Snow/PG&A Functions
Two upper-level transplants to the snowmobile group will maintain their roles in the parts, garments and accessories group at Polaris Industries Inc., Medina, Minn.
Scott Swenson will remain general manager of both units, and Cassie Murphy will handle marketing management duties for both divisions. She was previously the marketing manager for PG&A and will replace David Johnson in the snowmobile group. Murphy said she had no immediate marketing plan, othen than increasing consumer connectivity to the products and getting closer to the dealers. The units will continue to operate as separate businesses.
Michael Erickson has taken over product management duties for the full snowmobile lineup. psb
