New Can-Am line features powerful sports quad, luxury ATV – May 15, 2006

To kick off its new Can-Am nameplate, the crew at Bombardier launched its 2007 product line to the media recently in Georgia. Included in the line were the sport’s largest displacement sport quad, a first-ever luxury ATV and a heart-of-the-market 500-class entry.
The sport quad is the new Renegade 800. It features the electronically fuel injected, 800cc, liquid-cooled V-twin from the Outlander 800 H.O. EFI, giving the new sport ATV unrivaled horsepower. But the quad is 42 pounds lighter than the big horse utility quad.
With that big engine, four-wheel drive, independent front and rear suspension and a four-headlight design, this quad doesn’t look or act like any other sport quad currently available — the folks at BRP are saying this quad will create its own segment.
Another segment breaker is the new Outlander 800 MAX H.O. EFI Ltd — the sport’s first luxury cruiser. It will come standard with a luxurious two-up seat, a unique silver and grey paint job, handguards and cast aluminum wheels. It also has a removable Garmin Quest GPS and BRP XL 2500 winch from Warn. It’s made for the sort of long-trail rides that folks do in Quebec, so it’s not surprising that BRP would be the first to recognize this potential high-end market.
Perhaps the highest volume model released will be the Outlander 500 H.O. EFI. It shares many features of the larger Outlander models, including a V-twin Rotax engine that BRP folks say will be the strongest in its class.
BRP also brought back its other Outlander 800, 650 and 400 models, as well as the DS650, DS250, DS90, DS50 and Rally models for the 2007 model year, though all will now carry the Can-Am brand name. psb
