MOTORCYCLE – Big Dog’s Tornado Rally Attracts 15,000 Visitors

More than 15,000 motorcycle enthusiasts visited downtown Wichita to take part in the Tornado Rally, a bike rally sponsored by Kansas-based Big Dog Motorcycles.
“When developing this new annual rally, our ultimate goals were to promote the city – to show the motorcycle community our home – and to thank Wichita for its continued support through the excellent exposure this annual rally could bring,” said Paul Hansen, marketing director, Big Dog Motorcycles.
“The support from the city government was also excellent,” Hansen added. “Leaders, police force, fire, and EMS, as well as the Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau and surrounding neighborhoods, all supported our efforts to build this rally.”
Although Big Dog Motorcycles was the presenting sponsor of the Tornado Rally, the event was for all riders, enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a weekend event. The economic impact for the city of Wichita was estimated to hit between $350,000 and $500,000.
“This was such a great event,” said John Archer of Briefly Covered Sportswear. “The layout was good and the staff was especially helpful – two things you look at when you exhibit at an event like this one. We’re definitely coming back next year.”
Hansen said the two-day rally took six months to plan. “With all this support, next year’s Tornado Rally promises to be even better,” he said.
