Nov. 14, 2005 – Snell Foundation lists latest certified helmets

Snell Memorial Foundation purchases and tests samples of helmets from the marketplace in an effort to continuously monitor the quality of helmets being sold to the public.
The Foundation, based in North Highlands, Calif., maintains a listing of all helmets that have met certification to Snell standards.
Only helmets which passed Snell testing may contain a Snell serialized label. The latest list, supplied below, was released in October.
Snell says its standards significantly surpass those set by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.
Helmets meeting Snell standards are sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), the Federation International Motorcyclists (FIM), American Power Boat Association (APBA), the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and the Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA).
