MH Motorcycles Now Available in the U.S.

Martin Racing Performance, Miami, Fla., imports and distributes vehicles by Malaguti and Motorhispania (MH), and offers performance parts for imported ATVs, scooters and motorcycles through Turbo Kit, Polini, CB, WY, Malossi and the MRP house brand.
Joel Martin, MRP president, showed his first batch of MH motorcycles at the 2004 Dealer Expo. This year, he was back with a new batch of bikes and a long list of parts and accessories he says already are available to dealers throughout the country.
“Like the Malaguti brand, the MH brand is a bit of a novelty,” Martin told Powersports Business. “I’m not out to sell big numbers – the market won’t allow for it. What I do have, though, is a small displacement bike, made in Spain, that’s a lot of fun to ride and won’t break a bank account.”
The first 2005 model available to U.S. dealers is the RX 50 Racer. Dealer cost is $2,800 plus shipping. Martin says shipping cost is $150 per bike, and is free on orders of six bikes or more. Upgradeable to 70cc, 80cc and 100cc with racing kits supplied by Martin, the RX 50 Racer is available in red, black, blue and yellow.
Featuring a seat height of 810 mm and wheelbase of 1,280 mm, the bike has an aluminum frame, 49.9cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled two-stroke Minarelli AM6 Engine – the same as Aprilia’s RS 50 and Derbi’s GPR – a Dell’Orto PHBN 12 carb, an electronic ignition and DOT kill switch, 1.5 gallon aluminum gas tank, six-speed gearbox, 12V – 105 W generator, chain final drive, multiple disks in oil clutch, and catalyzed exhaust available as a single or dual pipe.
At only 187.4 pounds dry, the fly-weight bike stops via a single 280mm stainless steel front brake disk with double piston caliper and a 220 mm rear disk with single piston caliper. The bike rolls on a tubeless 90/80 ZR 17″ radial tire in the front and a 110/80 ZR 17″ rear tire, and soaks up bumps with a hydraulic telescopic fork front suspension and a double member swing-arm in high strength steel with hydraulic monoshock rear suspension.
“Initial stock is suggested at two units,” Martin said. “We think dealers who have had success in selling the Honda NSR 50, Aprilia RS 50, YSR’s, Derbi GPR, and Mini GP race bikes will find particular success with the RX 50.”
