Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals Underway

The 2004 Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Grand Finals are currently taking place in Lanzarote on the Canary Islands, and six drivers from the United States and three from Canada are in attendance representing their respective nations.
Team USA includes three-time American Rotax Champion Jordon Musser, Michael Johnson, Mike Herda and Timmy Megenbier, and Justin Melton and Nick Weil. The Canadian line-up includes Marco Di Leo, Sylvain Clair and Hugo Ouellette.
The RMC was first organized in 2000 and is now held as a competition series in 32 countries. At the culmination of a season, the best two drivers of each national RMC – 68 drivers in total – are invited to the Grand Finals. All travel expenses, accommodation and transport costs for the qualified drivers and their karts will be covered by the Rotax Kart Center and it’s sponsors.
The engine used is the FR 125 MAX with strictly no modifications allowed. In fact, engines are supplied with an engine ID card and are sealed by an authorized Rotax distributor or service center. Furthermore, the chassis type must be sanctioned by Rotax officials, and the only tires allowed are specially-designed Bridgestone YGK for dry and YGR for wet use.
Bridgestone, Denso/Japan and Motorex Oil of Switzerland are official sponsors of the RCM. Previous Grand Final races took place in Puerto Rico (2001), Malaysia (2002), South Africa (2003).
