FOCUS – WKA Plans Two Shows

The World Karting Association (WKA) has planned two kart shows for 2005.
The WKA is a membership-owned, non-profit corporation formed in 1971 to regulate and promote the sport of competitive kart racing. It establishes rules and procedures to set standards by which to sanction tracks and to conduct annual championships for various types of karting. WKA has grown to over 10,000 active members and 120 sanctioned tracks nationwide to make it the largest sanctioning body for kart racing in the United States and one of the largest in the world.
The organization says it expects more than 200 exhibitors and 10,000 attendees to visit KartFest, January 28-29 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, N.C. In 2004, 10,400 people attended, breaking the prior year’s record attendance by 1,400.
Also last year, hundreds of people attended three National Series Banquets – the Briggs & Stratton Speedway Dirt Series, Ultramax Racing Chassis Speedway Pavement Series, and the Horstman Gold Cup Series – at facilities adjacent to the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
The WKA also has a new show planned for ’05 – KartFest MidWest slated to take place February 18-20 at the Hilton Inn in Kansas City.
There is a limited amount of exhibition space available for both venues. Still, organizers seek interested dealers, distributors and manufacturers.
