Rucker Injured in Bike Accident

Bill Rucker, long-time motorcycle executive, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while returning from the Sturgis Rally Aug. 19. Rucker and his wife, Laura, collided with a car outside Delta, Colo. Rucker suffered a broken hip and multiple fractures of his lower left leg. Several toes were amputated due to damage caused by the breaks. Laura suffered only minor in juries. Rucker’s rehabilitation from the accident could take as long as a year, he said.

Rucker is the co-founder of Fort Worth, Texas-based American IronHorse Motorcycle Co. and several other companies. Most recently, he launced Rucker Performance, a motorcycle maker of upscale bikes. The first machines began rolling off the line this month.

Rucker is hospitalized in Swedish Medical Center, Denver, Colo. During his absence, Rucker Performance is being run by Rucker’s daughter, Erin, and Richie Lamb, head of operations.
