Michigan drag circuit studied

A new Michigan grass and ice drag snowmobile circuit is in the works for the upcoming season. Michigan’s Bob Quigley and other drag racers met last month to discuss starting a new circuit that offered a larger race format than what is currently offered by the Michigan Snowmobile Drag Racing Association (MSDRA). Before last season, MSDRA officials revamped the format, which limited the number of classes and did not allow racers to race one sled in several different classes.
Quigley said the new circuit, called American Snowmobile Drag Racing Association (ASDRA), has four races scheduled, and he is working on a fifth for the grass drag season.
The scheduled races include Frankenmuth and Onsted, Mich. Quigley said ASDRA will go back to a more traditional racing format with more classes. Drivers also will be able to race sleds in several different classes. He said they also plan to have Trail Stock classes.
Meanwhile, MSDRA officials are working to finalize an asphalt drag racing schedule and a grass schedule. MSDRA’s Todd Powers said the grass format will be similar. However, they plan to offer more Trail Stock classes and will allow drivers to race their sleds in different classes.
