Kawasaki 2003 Summer Splash Jet Ski demo tour begins

Kawasaki is taking the show on the road this summer, bringing the Summer Splash 2003 Jet Ski watercraft tour to a number of high-profile recreational events and dealer open houses between April and the end of July.
At each stop, Kawasaki reps will be on hand to display the new Kawasaki PWC line, as well as to give interested enthusiasts the chance to hop aboard the vehicle of their choice for a test ride. Consumers also will be given instruction on safe and proper riding techniques.
“The Summer Splash Tour is designed to reach out to new consumers by providing them opportunities to demo all-new Jet Ski models,” said Steve Fischer, product manager, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. “We want to get people excited about riding Jet Ski watercraft. The best way to do that is to go out, let them ride the product, and have some fun.”
Farthing Turning Green
Long-term Yamaha pilot Dustin Farthing reportedly will be contesting the Motosurf Nationals aboard a Team Green Kawasaki for 2003, making a break from the Yamaha blue boats he has ridden for nearly a decade.
Why the sudden change? Farthing’s addition to the Kawasaki team can be traced in part to the broken collarbone Chris MacClugage suffered while practicing for the Motosurf series near Oceanside, Calif.
Though MacClugage is expected to heal in time to compete at the tour’s opening round, Kawasaki team managers indicate that he will only be contesting the Pro Ski class, leaving his Runabout 1200 ride available.
Enter Farthing. The Florida native will campaign the entire Motosurf series for Kawasaki aboard the 1200 STX-R in Pro 1200, then join MacClugage and fellow Kawi racers Dustin Motzouris and Minoru Kanamori in the 1200 class at the World Finals in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. in October.
Sea-Doo Pro Wakeskate Tour Debut
The Sea-Doo Pro Wakeskate Tour kicked off April 13 in Orlando, Fla., with wakeskate pioneer Thomas Horrell taking top honors. Horrell, the creator of Cassette wakeskates, beat out popular riders Brian Grubb and Aaron Reed for the Orlando title, and helped showcase to an enthusiastic crowd the new Vans Limited Edition Sea-Doo GTX 4-TEC.
Wakeskaters have become strong proponents of PWC as tow vehicles, citing the craft’s maneuverability, cost, and ease of use as three of the many reasons the craft outperform boats in a wakeskating format.
additions Make IJSBA Homologation
The IJSBA has announced that five new models have met homologation requirements and will be eligible to compete in IJSBA events for 2003. They include the Honda F-12 andF-12X, Sea-Doo GTX 4-TEC and GTX 4-TEC Limited Supercharged, and the vPolaris MSX140.
