It’s already September. Have you started your holiday planning?

We’ve barely bid a fond farewell to summer and already it’s time to start welcoming in the holiday season. To provide you with a jumpstart on your planning, we’ve included these suggestions to help you boost your holiday sales.

Consider a holiday look for the home page of your website. You can cater to the holiday spirit of your consumers by adding a seasonal look to some of the images on your home page as well as including holiday and gift-buying references in the text. Why stop there? Take a look at your logo. Can a Santa hat or holiday lights be added to create that extra holiday feel?

Advertise new and pre-owned unit specials. Take advantage of the increased traffic to your site by promoting the sales and specials you are offering at your dealership. Promote youth ATVs or dirt bikes as holiday gift ideas.

Use your event calendar. Use your website’s event calendar to promote all of the special sales and events scheduled at your dealership. Also provide your online customers with helpful shipping deadlines for last-minute gift buying.

Make sure your dealership is mobile. Does your website solution include a mobile website? Google predicts that this year 44 percent of total searches for last-minute gifts and store locations will be from mobile devices. (Source: Mobile Commerce Daily)

Offer and promote the popularity of gift cards. Suggest the ease of purchasing gift cards online or at your dealership for the “hard to shop for” people on their list.

Provide holiday coupons on your website. Customers are looking for deals when they browse for gifts. Position your dealership to get the sale by offering coupons which can be redeemed in-store or online.

Promote Internet-only specials. If your website offers e-commerce, create and advertise online-only specials to increase your online holiday sales success.

Give them free shipping. Provide consumers with another reason to choose your dealership for their online holiday purchases.

Feature stocking-stuffers. Promote small, inexpensive gift items on the home page of your website. If these items can also be purchased on your site, be sure to include links to the individual product pages for easy purchase.

Provide the option of in-store pick-up. Last-minute online shoppers will appreciate this option if they’ve missed holiday shipping deadlines.

Get the word out. Plan and schedule a series of holiday newsletters to promote your special holiday sales and events.
