The National Retail Federation has announced the top 10 retailers for customer service, as selected by shoppers in the sixth annual NRF Foundation/American Express Customers’ Choice survey.

The survey, which asked more than 9,000 shoppers which retailer provides the best customer service, was conducted by BIGresearch. According to shoppers, the top 10 retailers for customer service, in alphabetical order, are: 1) Amazon.com, 2) JCPenney, 3) Kohl’s Department Stores, 4) Lands’ End, 5) L.L. Bean, 6) Newegg, 7) Nordstrom, 8) Overstock.com, 9) QVC and 10) Zappos.com.

This recent announcement highlights the top customer service retailers. I would be curious to know how many of you are familiar with these retailers, and do you agree with the results? Do you shop at these top 10 stores and why?

Starting with myself, I shop at Nordstrom. (I have shopped there since 1977. It’s an apparel-only retailer with a great selection, above-average customer service, and they never disappoint.) I love Overstock.com — it’s fun and easy to shop; I’m confident they will handle any problem with a product without difficulty, and I love the reviews. I just received an order from them last night, and the product was as expected.

Who’s next out there, and how do you think your store compares to mainstream retailers? Is your service above and beyond? Do you set a higher bar than maybe you need to, and the results speak for themselves? Does your team make it as easy as possible for your consumers to shop with confidence? Do you create loyalty?

Speak up and share your store’s customer service triumphs.
